AXO AND TONY WORLD CHAMPIONS!

Pictures from Gaildorf, where Tony yesterday has clinched the GP and has given AXO the title of 2011 MX1 World Champion...

At the end of Race 1 Tony was already World Champion: "It's just amazing...5 times World Champion...I want to dedicate this title to the Team, who have been working perfectly , to my mother, my relatives and my fans who came here to support me. In the beginning I was cautious. The track was difficult and I tried not to make mistakes. Then I found my rhythm, I was third in race 1 and won the title...this season has not been easy for me, I had that injury at my knee in Bulgaria and then some ups and downs. When I saw Frossard crash out, I realized I was Champion, but I tried not to lose concentration and I pushed hard to come back to third spot...".

But Tony didn't have enough...in Race 2 he had an average start around seventh spot, pushed hard until he gained second spot, which gave him the GP win, his 43rd so far:

"It' couldn't have been better! I have won the title and the GP, which was important to me, as this GP is to me more difficult then the one in Lommel, even if it may sound strange. I prefer the sand rather than the hard pack. And now there is the race in Fermo, in my home country. I hope many fans will come to see me and to have a party with me. I will give my best to finish the season on a high.

Tony has now reached the impressive tally of 5 World Titles:

"The goal is to go on this way next year. Every season is more difficult because there are many talented and strong riders who work hard. So I'll have to watch out!".

And then Tony's smiles, the tears in his father's eyes and in the Team's eyes. The last laps raced full gas and his waving hello to the mechanics in front of the pit lane, before screaming out his joy as the chequered flag was waved...these are the first pictures of an unforgettable day...enjoy it Tony and THANK YOU!

Congratulations to Ivan Lazzarini, too, who yesterday has sealed his 8th Supermoto National title!
